REJUVENATING YOURSELF IN TIMES OF CRISIS

Whenever something negative happens in life there is always some lesson to be learnt from it. Because everything works out if we relax and slow down in life. Today, the world is crumbling but have you ever thought that the lockdown imposed on us is a wonderful opportunity to relax and recharge.

So, here are few things you can do in this time which will rejuvenate yourself and give you the much needed break from the stress of rushing into work and managing your home simultaneously:

  1. Remember the secret…You get what you seek for…So, when the world is going crazy, please ensure that you don’t spend all your time pondering over it, internet is flooding with news but you should learn to filter it to your own advantage.

Because THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A BAD DAY, THE UNIVERSE ONLY RESPONDS TO YOUR MOOD…

  1. Your health is your biggest asset. Without good physical health, you have nothing. So, make sure not to neglect your physical well being at any cost.
  2. Start your day with breathing exercise. Breathing has a vital connection with your brain and well being. You must have noticed that when your mind is agitated, you become irritated and your breathing is quick. But when you are at peace you experience calm and deep breathing. Just a few minutes everyday can calm your mind and give you the much needed peace.
  3. Laughter Yoga is the happiness mantra. With so much negativity around, make sure to spare some moments for laughter, sit with your family in morning or evening and start laughing. Also clap your hands while doing it. This will take you to a joyous state and calm your mind and soul.
  4. Try a new workout…something you have never done before but always wanted to do…It will revitalize your energies and will be a good break from the continuous ‘work from home’ routine.
  5. Make sure to say ‘NO’ to social media before 9 AM and use the morning time to be productive. Do your exercises, have tea with your family, cook breakfast with your partner and plan your entire day. Remember, life is all about these little moments and instead of cribbing about being stuck at home, realize that this is a golden opportunity for doing everything you have been longing to do for a long time. So, make the best of this time at your disposal.
  6. When the world out there needs people like you, it becomes imperative that you lend a helping hand, which can be even by using your creative instincts. Write positive things, make some feel good videos, share your exercise tips and spread it among your peers. Don’t do it in order to get famous, just do it because the world needs more positivity and will surely help someone. Don’t worry about money, it always follows your passion and comes naturally.
  7. Do you remember the last time you sat still without touching your mobile or watching something on TV. In this chaotic world we have forgotten to be still. We don’t spend even 30 minutes in a day in total silence and peace. So, relax….work is never ending, you need time for your own self as well…. enjoy the beauty of silence, develop the habit of sitting quietly and focus on nothing but the silence around. Simply concentrate on what is important for you and focus on it. Silence is bliss.
  8. The key secret to a good life is the way you communicate with others and also with your own self. Have you ever noticed that the more you talk about negative stuff, the more you feel irritated. This means what you focus on affects your mood so always make others and more importantly yourself feel positive by talking about bright things in life.
  9. Take out time for evening prayers, we have seen our parents do it regularly, but due to hectic life we could hardly get that peace time. So make sure you revitalize yourself by bringing peace to your soul and even a small prayer not only fills the environment with positivity but also fills our heart and mind with calm and peace. The vibrations from chanting is sure to bring solace to your troubled mind.
  10. Your surroundings enrich your mood so use this time to fill your home with great music, great books and laughter. You can also use this time to do some gardening. So, apart from beautifying your outdoor garden, why not plant some indoor plants and make your home an Oasis of greenery and happiness.
  11. Change your home interiors by simple tricks. Open those closed windows, let the fresh air come in, take out those old memorable and happy pictures and fill your wall with pleasant memories, burn those scented candles and don’t save them for any special day. Sort out your library and read the books you never got time for and go through the others for bringing back the positivity in your life, clean the aquarium, make some wall paintings to bring back the creative spree, use those plastic bottles to plant some money plants and fill your home with greenery. These little things will fill your home with positive vibrations and you will feel your life changing for good.
  12. Join a Speed Reading course online. It has the following benefits:

  • Higher levels of self-confidence
  • Improves logic
  • Enhances emotional well-being
  • Improves sleep

This will enable you to grasp more material in short span of time, thus improving concentration, saving time and making you more knowledgeable.

When was the last time you talked to your best friend from school or to that special aunt of yours, remember your parents are getting old and you have never been able to spare some quality time with them, your grandparents are full of stories from their life and they really need to share it with someone in order to relive the good old days and feel positive, your kids have been wanting to make a DIY craft with you…….. so why not just do it and lastly your spouse needs your love and attention as well….so start living these precious moments before time slips away.
  2. Do something every day to enhance the quality of your life. Declutter your library and read the books you bought very happily but never got the time to read. Just laying on the couch with a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in other is such a blessing. Because as Anna Quindlen says, “Books are the plane and the train and the road, they are the destination and the journey. They are home.”
  3. Take a bubble bath at the end of day. Enjoy the time at hand and rejuvenate your body, mind and soul. This will surely calm your spirits and you will find yourself being able to do much more then you thought you could. After all, self love is the best therapy.

Remember that more often we forget that in this hectic life style we don’t take out time to relax and when life gives us an opportunity to take out time for ourselves, why not use it to our maximum advantage. Instead of reading the negative news and being glued to those never ending discussions on TV, it is imperative that we use this time to rejuvenate ourselves. Everything will be back to normal soon so when we are getting time to live our life our way then let’s be the boss and take complete charge of it…!!!
